You know the story, every year when GCSE or A Level results are announced, the papers are full of ecstatic teenagers, flinging their limbs in the air with joyful abandon. While some may roll their eyes at these photos, we embrace this most British of traditions.
So, to celebrate this time honoured tradition, we’ve decided to announce the inaugural 2014 Metropolis UK Boarding Schools Guide Jumping For Joy Contest.
Our judges reviewed this year’s entries using a very strict selection criteria to decide the winners.
Jumping for joy selection criteria:
- Height of jump
- Smile whilst jumping
- Holding results paper whilst jumping
- Leg bend
- Arm raised/and or fist pump
- Crazy hair action
- Overall commitment
*A maximum amount of 10 points will be awarded per category with additional points awarded if you are photographed jumping solo and for artistic impression – at the judges discretion
There was stiff competition this year and after hours of deliberation, our judges have awarded our 2014 prizes.
Runner Up
An honourable mention has to go to the girls from Abbots Bromley. We definitely see a dancerly influence in this shot. Unfortunately points had to be deducted for feet on the ground.
Bronze Award
At number three, we have a great effort from Woldingham School. Our judges awarded points for number of feet off the floor and for exceptional hair movement.
Silver Award
Our runners up, at number two, are Farlington School. The judges were particularly impressed with the juxtaposition of the jumping girls with the Headmistress. The judges were impressed with the commitment of the second from left, whose enthusiastic gesture nearly won her the title.
Gold Award
Congratulations to Durham School’s Sarah (centre), who has taken the coveted Jumping For Joy crown this year! The judges were impressed with the height of jump, the number of limbs involved and the overall commitment to the jump. Flanked by similarly enthusiastic students, there was no question as to who was taking the crown this year.
Thank you to all our entries this year and we’re looking forward to next week when it’s time for the GCSE students to show us what they’ve got!
