Staffordshire Young Farmers visited Abbotsholme School this week as Abbotsholme became the tenth Young 
Farmers Club (YFC) in Staffordshire.
Twenty five pupils from Abbotsholme School, a leading independent co-educational boarding and day school for ages 4-18, with a 70 acre working farm on site, met for their first meeting in the school library.
Staffordshire Young Farmers, who have over 480 members, gave a short presentation on what Young Farmers is all about.
Then Abbotsholme pupils ranging from age 11 to 17 from all year groups, got to play some “get to know you games”, including polo passing, balloon busting as well as additional games with marshmallows and maltesers!
They left the meeting discussing lots of ideas for events and social outings with bowling being the first event on the list next week!
Christina Liddle, Head of Estate Education, said, “Young Farmers is a great way for pupils to make more friends across the year groups and meet people from outside the school as well as learning and developing new skills.”
She added, “I know that the enthusiasm of the pupils will ensure that the Abbotsholme Young Farmers Club will grow 
and flourish and become and integral part of the School.”
Andy Goldstraw, County Chairman of Staffordshire YFC said “We are very pleased to welcome the pupils of Abbotsholme to be a part of our fantastic youth organisation.
They are already preparing to compete in our Public Speaking Day Competitions and we’re also looking forward to seeing them at the “One Big Social” for all our clubs at the end of the month too.”
