Abbotsholme Pupil gains first place in National Schools Challenge

Annabelle Lane beat 149 other competitors to gain first place in the Schools Challenge shooting competition.Abbotsholme

Annabelle, only 14 years old from Uttoxeter, entered this competition in April which had over 150 competitors. She was competing against 21 years old in the 12 – 21 level, and was placed first.

Annabelle has been at Abbotsholm, a leading independent day and boarding school for 2 -18, since Year 7 and enjoys clay pigeon shooting as one of the activities at the school.

Since this competition she has gone on to compete at the University Challenge at which she was awarded first place too.

Annabelle said of her wins, “I love shooting and really enjoy doing a sport that I am not pushed to do, but just can compete in and enjoy it.”

Annabelle added, “I have only been shooting for 12 months, and clay pigeon shooting for four months, and I just love the sport and competing.”
