Abbotsholme School PitchAbbotsholme School has been given the go ahead to have its own synthetic pitch (Astroturf) to be built in 2015. This is part of a number of exciting new initiatives and developments for Abbotsholme School in 2015 which include a 1:1 device for all senior school pupils as part of a new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for Abbotsholme pupils, employing a Leader of Digital Learning to lead on this new initiative, a new sports hall floor, and additional car parking.

These developments have been given the go ahead following Abbotsholme bucking the trend within independent schools in recent year by announcing a six percent increase in the school roll this September on the previous year, with a 21% increase in pupils in the Prep School.

With the addition of a Pre-Prep School on the Abbotsholme School site allowing pupils to benefit from an education for life from 2-18, and who only last month achieved Outstanding across all areas from Ofsted which they only ever achieved two years ago when the Pre-Prep arrived at Abbotsholme in January 2012, Abbotsholme is going from strength to strength.

The School has just celebrated its 125th anniversary and these new developments are the biggest projects to benefit Abbotsholme since the school began 125 years ago.

Steve Fairclough, Headmaster of Abbotsholme stated “These exciting new developments for Abbotsholme are fantastic for our pupils going forward and are a great indication to parents of the strength of the school and the confidence we have in our unique education as we move forward from the recent recession.”

He added, “Not only will these new initiatives facilitate the development of our sporting provision, but as we move further into the 21st century, prepare our pupils for life within the digital age.”

“I am delighted to be steering Abbotsholme School at the start of the next 125 years with such ground breaking new enterprises and innovativeness, knowing that the school is going from strength to strength.”
