Internationally renowned photographer visits Abbotsholme School

Abbotsholme School Robin Matthews Photographer TalkAbbotsholme School welcomed Robin Matthews, a former pupil (OA’79), and internationally renowned photographer to speak to pupils, staff, parents, OAs and friends as part of the Schools 125th celebrations.

Robin, who left Abbotsholme in 1979, went onto discover a passion for photography, before becoming Lord Snowdon’s assistant and photographing some of the most famous people in history for media such as Vogue, Tatler and the Sunday Times.

Throughout the lecture – part of the 125 Lecture series, celebrating the School’s 125th anniversary – his stories of people include the Royal Family, Yasser Arraft, Lawrence Olivier, the elusive Lord Bristol, as well as his anecdote’s relating more recent work with advertising campaigns kept the audience listening with complete interest throughout his entire lecture. For many, he could have talked all night and people would have listened, because his stories were so fascinating.

Robin joined us for dinner after in the dining room during which parents and pupils got the chance to ask lots more questions. A great end to the Lecture Series celebrating our 125th anniversary.
