Nearly 90 new pupils were welcomed this week to Abbotsholme throughout all year groups between Pre-Prep (age 2) and Sixth Form.

Abbotsholme’s Prep and Pre-Prep Schools are thriving with nearly 70 pupils in the Prep School and lots of brand new faces in the Pre-Prep School where the Abbotsholme education journey begins.

Abbotsholme, a leading co-educational boarding and day for ages 2-18 on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire, has additionally welcomed a number of high calibre new boarding and academic staff to complement our existing staff body, in the fields of Boarding, Business Studies, Digital Learning, Languages, Maths, Science, Sport, Technology, as well as in the Prep and Pre-Prep Schools.

The School has also invested in a variety of new facilities to enhance Teaching and Sport. As well as relaying the Sports Hall Floor and staff, Abbotsholme will be formally opening its brand new synthetic pitch on Saturday 26th September and welcoming Beeston 1st XI National League Hockey Team to the opening at 1.30pm.

Abbotsholme is also investing in teaching, learning and ICT through the introduction of a Virtual Learning Environment for pupils to access homework and tasks, iPads for all Senior School pupils – as well as a class bank for each Prep year group – and a parent portal for parents to track their child’s progress. All of this will be co-orinated by our new Leader of Digital Learning.

Steve Fairclough, Headmaster of Abbotsholme School said of the new faces and facilities, “It is a fantastic start to the new School Year this week, welcoming so many new faces and facilities to Abbotsholme – the buzz around the school is just amazing.”

“It was great to see everyone together in Chapel for the first time on Monday and we had fun trying to fit everyone in!”

He added, “Abbotsholme is going from strength to strength and with the new intake of pupils and staff, as well as our new facilities, Abbotsholme is thriving and in a strong position.”

The School only just last week welcomed turkeys to the school – following the piglets a few months ago – to add to the variety of animals on the schools 70 acre working farm, which will all be on show at the Schools Open Day on Saturday 26th September all day from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
