Abbotsholme_Scholarship_teaAbbotsholme School organised a special tea for this year’s scholarship recipients in the library to congratulate them on obtaining a scholarship for next year.

The pupils who will be going into Year 7, 9 and 12 from both Abbotsholme and outside the School, were joined by parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents on this special occasion.

Abbotsholme scholarship recipients included Elsie Jones, aged 11 from Ashbourne, Toby Hall, aged 13 from Uttoxeter, and Bertie Burges-Lumsden aged 13 from Kettering.

Pupils external to Abbotsholme who have received a scholarship included Yasmin Perrins aged 11 (who could not wait for September to join Abbotsholme so started this term!), Lilly-Anna Montandon aged 10 from Leicester, Frannie Brotherton-Cottrell aged 16 from  Burton on Trent, and Kayleigh Jennings, aged 16 from Rocester, the latter two predicted all A*s and As at GCSE.

Kayleigh Jennings applied for the place and scholarship all on her own with a little help from her dad, after doing all the research on schools best placed to help her through her A Levels, and support her in her ambition to be a corporate lawyer.

Gordon Selwyn, Director of Studies, commented, “Scholarships are a great way of rewarding bright, academic children both from within and outside Abbotsholme.”

“The school values individual academic success and achievement very highly, and these scholarships are a testament to this value.”

“Congratulations to the all the recipients of our scholarships, and we look forward to teaching them in the next stage of their education in September.”
