Line dancing was the order of the evening

The Uganda 2015 Project Charity Barn Dance was held at Burgess Hill School for Girls on Friday 30th January 2015 and it was a fantastic success!

The band ‘Moves Afoot‘ with their caller Sean were amazing entertainment and the smiles, fun and laughter generated throughout the evening was infectious.

There was even an impromptu Line Dance lesson from the Lower Sixth Form girls taking part in the Uganda trip and the Junior School girls have been dancing around the school ever since!

Miss Caroline Petty, event organiser, said, “The entertainment and fun are always essential parts of the evening, however one of the biggest highlights of the evening for me was the demonstration of how strong and supportive our whole school community is, especially when it’s for a such good cause. From the children in the Junior School to the Upper Sixth School Officers, Old Girls, teaching staff, support staff, Friends of the School members, parents and other friends allowed for a really sociable evening.”

The Friends of the School were instrumental in helping this event to happen. They were very happy to support this event by providing all the decorations, raffle prizes and what can only be described as a military operation for the set up and clearing away.

Miss Petty added, “We are very appreciative to Vanessa Cordell, Claire Fuller and all their unsung heros and heroines who helped out. Thank you! The total raised on the evening was £1,353.77 and has taken us another step closer to our goal of raising £10,000 for the trip in July. Thank you to everyone who supported us.”
