Pam, who has been a member of the England Netball squad since 2002, has played a key role in helping Team England produce a battling performance to edge out Jamaica by just 53-52 in the third place play-off in Melbourne in 2006. She helped Team Bath win the Super league 2008-9, played in the World Netball Championship Squad in 2007 and was a bronze medallist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Badminton’s innovative fitness centre, known as The Grange Fitness Centre, comprises a Running Room with three treadmills, a Conditioning Room with technical equipment including a kinesis machine, cables and pulleys for all over body workout with weight resistance, Swiss balls, Bosu balls, stretch area with mats, mirrors and platform for steps and lunges and a Cardio Room with boxing area, three cross trainers, two rowing machines and three bikes.

All the technical equipment has been kindly donated by Involved – the parents association at the school – which raised money through a variety of fundraising initiatives including a BBQ, 150th Anniversary Ball and Auction.

Badminton, which is one of the top girls’ schools in the UK, also has an excellent reputation for sport. As well as individual sportswomen who represent the UK in swimming, judo and horse riding, many Badminton pupils are county and regional level for major sports such as hockey, netball, tennis and swimming. Recent successes include Badminton’s U19 netball team coming second in an international competition whilst on tour in Malta as well as reaching the finals of the U19 County Netball Tournament and competing in the elite U19 County League. In addition , the Badminton hockey teams have all won their relative age groups in the Hockey County Plate Competitions this year.

Said Headmistress, Jan Scarrow: “With so many of our girls excelling in sport, we felt we wanted to encourage and support them by providing on-site facilities and specialised high tech equipment that will really help them to improve their physical performance. The Grange Fitness Centre is also going to be well used by those pupils who may perhaps find team sports more challenging, but for whom keeping fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is extremely important.”

Added Sports Captain, Anna Coveney: “We are really looking forward to being able to work out here at Badminton during our free periods and to have our own training programmes designed by the PE staff – who are all sports specialists. I play both hockey and netball for Badminton and at regional level, so being able to train regularly will enable me to move towards the next level in terms of my individual sporting performance.”
