David Walker-Smith, Farlington School’s Head of Languages, has been admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
The Institute is a British professional and learned society, founded in 1910, with the aim of prompting proficiency in modern languages worldwide. It is the only organisation which represents all professional linguists including translators, interpreters, government officials and teachers. Membership is gained through comprehensive scrutiny of qualifications, experience and continued professional development. All members must adhere to a strict code of conduct and in return are able to contribute to a national and international voice on languages.
“I am delighted to be recognised for my work as a linguist,” said Mr Walker-Smith. “There are some challenging times ahead in language education, and I am certain my membership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists will be of benefit to both Farlington and to me.”
