Friends' School students visiting the kitchens of Marcus WaeringStudents from our Food Technology department took a special trip to London on 17th January to visit the kitchens of Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley.

Six students, recognised for their love of food and success in the subject were given a tour of the 2 Michelin star restaurant by the head chef, who guided them through all the different sections of the kitchen, including the pastry section where students were able to sample banoffee truffles.

He went on to explain how the kitchen is organised, how they source their quality produce, and the preparation of fine dining meals. He also spoke about the level of commitment needed to reach the restaurants’ high standards and what is required to work in such a successful kitchen. The students also had the opportunity to tour the kitchens of the Gilbert Scott, a British Brasserie and bar run by Marcus Wareing’s team.
