Durham School A Level Results Jumping For Joy
Our A-Level winner, Sarah (centre)

During the Summer, we hosted a Jumping For Joy competition to celebrate the fantastic A Level and GCSE results of students from our independent boarding schools. We challenged the pupils to show their excitement by jumping for joy, and sending in photo evidence. Exam results this year were better than ever in independent schools, despite the national downturn, so pupils had plenty to celebrate.

Choosing a winner was difficult, with such enthusiastic entries, so our expert panel of judges devised a strict set of selection criteria. They were looking for students to fulfil as many requirements as possible, which is not an easy task!

Jumping for joy selection criteria:

  • Height of jump
  • Smile whilst jumping
  • Holding results paper whilst jumping
  • Leg bend
  • Arm raised/and or fist pump
  • Crazy hair action
  • Overall commitment

*A maximum amount of 10 points will be awarded per category with additional points awarded if you are photographed jumping solo and for artistic impression  – at the judges discretion

After much debate, and many a sleepless night, the judges finally decided on the winners.

The prize for winning was a £50 Amazon voucher, and our A-Level winner, Sarah from Durham School, has put it to good use. She was “delighted with her prize” and said that “the timing could not have been better!” Sarah is currently studying English Literature at Cardiff University, and decided to spend her voucher on some course books- The Norton Anthology of Poetry, the Canterbury Tales and Great Expectations. Very impressive!

We wish Sarah all the best and can’t wait for Jumping for Joy 2015, where the competition will be fiercer than ever!
