Lancing College Present Dance by Design

Lancing_Dances_By_designDance by Design is an annual dance showcase and choreographic award held in Lancing’s Theatre and presents the talents of all the dance students in the form of a competition.

This year, the choreography and performances were of an exceptionally high standard and were adjudicated by Nicola Miles. The evening was compèred by Lancing College student, Louisa Reddin.

There were prizes for:

  • Best Choreography for Duets & Solos – won by Nicole Miners for Say Something
  • Best Choreography for Groups  –  won by Nancy Holt for Wrecking Ball
  • Runner-up Best Choreography  –  won by Dasha Mazhaeva for I Surrender
  • Best Individual Performer – won by Ayane Semba

The adjudicator praised all of the dancers for their hard work in putting together such a varied and interesting evening.  The numbers had been well rehearsed and were full of vitality.  She particularly liked the effective lighting and strong floorwork in Nancy Holt’s Wrecking Ball group dance and the excellent interpretation of the music by Nicole Miners in her contemporary dance to Say Something.
