internet safety Ratcliffe CollegeRatcliffe College is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Leicestershire Schools’ E-Safety Award; the first school to be accredited with this new certification in the County.

The Leicestershire Schools’ E-safety Award provides an opportunity for schools to demonstrate outstanding practice in E-Safety. The award is externally validated by the local authority. Schools have a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of their pupils, including their use of digital and mobile technology, including the internet.

Parents and carers rightly expect schools to equip their children with the skills to manage the very real risks associated with living in a digital age. School inspectors increasingly focus on the resilience of pupils when using mobile and on-line technology. In receiving this award, Ratcliffe College has demonstrated that it has a high level of commitment and expertise in this important area, and works hard to educate its pupils from Nursery age to Year 13 about staying safe on-line.

The award is the result of three years’ hard work and preparation from both the Staff and Student E-safety Committees, ensuring that E-safety is embedded in all areas of the school community. The School also acknowledges the important contribution which parents have made in supporting our stance on this matter, especially those who have attended E-Safety Information Evenings and supported the School’s E-Safety policy.

In this ever-changing and fast moving digital world, Ratcliffe College will continue to strive to educate and support our children to use technology wisely.
