Mayfield Equestrian Department were delighted to welcome GB Event Performance Director Yogi Breisner to speak at the Riding Squad Awards Dinner which took place at Barnsgate Manor on Friday 13 November.
Breisner teaches regular clinics at the all-girls independent school, which has its own extensive equestrian facilities and stable yard. Breisner, who has led Team GB’s eventers to medal success in the last four Olympic games, spoke about the team’s preparations for next year’s games in Rio de Janeiro and gave a fascinating insight into the behind the scenes life of the Olympic squad, and life competing at the top of the sport.
The talk was aimed at the whole of the riding squad, from those just starting out to the elite squad and those aiming for British Teams. Breisner spoke passionately about the drive and ambition needed to get to, and stay at, the top of the sport, and his words inspired everyone present from those just starting out, to the most school’s most talented riders who are aiming for national teams.
The girls were able to participate too, with Breisner offering items of Team GB kit to those who came up with the best questions
