Merchiston_Tennis_Academy_U15At the Aegon National Schools Tennis Finals in Bolton, Merchiston’s U15 team won first place, making them the UK Champions of Year 10 (S3) Teams. Follow the link for the final scores.  In the Year 8 (S1) National Finals, Merchiston’s U13 players came second, also a remarkable achievement. The link to their final results is here: congratulations to Cheam High School, which came out top on the day at U13 (S1) level.

Merchiston’s U15 and U13 teams were amongst the final 16 teams from around 625 teams that originally entered this event.   The other Year 10 (S3) Boys National Finalists were Reed’s School, Repton School and Millfield School.  The standard of tennis played by all of the finalists was extremely high and Merchiston was delighted to be successful in all of its U15 matches.

This is an outstanding achievement for Calum, Ewan, Philip, Douglas and Christopher, and their coaches Marcel du Coudray and Nathan Lundy.  Merchiston’s Tennis Academy Head Coach, Marcel du Coudray, commented:

“Winning the Aegon Year 10 (S3) National Schools Tournament at the weekend is the culmination of six years work in the relentless pursuit of excellence by the boys.  When we launched the Tennis Academy Scotland in 2007, Calum MacGeoch was the youngest entrant and it was only fitting that he won the match to clinch the title on Sunday.”
