Dr Letman, who lives in Suffolk with his wife and two children, is an accomplished historian and has had a long career as an educationalist. Since 2004 he has been Director of Professional Development for both the HMC and GSA, two of the leading professional associations for independent school head teachers, and prior to that he worked in two large and successful independent schools. His previous roles include Boarding Housemaster, Head of History and Deputy Head (Academic).

“We are delighted that Dr Letman will be joining Saint Felix as our new Headmaster,” commented Margaret Angus, Chairman of the Governors. “He has the knowledge, skills and personality to build on the excellent work which has been achieved by the outgoing Headmaster, Mr David Ward”.

Dr Letman said, “I am very much looking forward to taking the reins at Saint Felix. It is a wonderful school with a tremendous reputation. I’ll be working very closely with staff to develop the full potential of all pupils and to provide them with the broad-based and supportive learning environment which is such an important part of the Saint Felix ethos”.

Nigel Johnson, Governor and Chairman of the Selection Panel added, “I am delighted that we have been able to appoint such an experienced new Headmaster. Dr Letman really understands how schools work and pupils learn. His vision for the future and his nationally acknowledged leadership of pupil assessment and staff development will ensure that Saint Felix continues to move forward as one of the leading schools in the Eastern Region.”
