ratcliffe college prize giving nurseryThe Ratcliffe College Nursery School and Junior School Prize Day was a wonderful occasion for all to experience. It started with a fabulous dance by the Swans children to tell the story of Peter Pan. Mrs Rankine, Head of Nursery School, then gave a lovely talk about a year in the life of a Nursery School child as seen through the eyes of their detective teddy bear, Marvellous Marvin.

Mrs Rigby, who will be leaving at the end of this term, looked back over her 6 years as Head of the Junior School at the amazing things which the children accomplish throughout their time in the Junior School. The focus was the benefits of learning outside the classroom and how this enhances the children’s learning and life-skills.

Amazing performances by the children really showed the breadth of talent within our school. The Guest of Honour and celebrated founder of ‘Kids Company’, Camila Batmanghelidjh, gave an inspirational speech about the work that she does with deprived children. She was delighted to feel a real sense of warmth and kindness in the children and staff of Ratcliffe College Nursery School and Junior School.

All in all it was a tremendous celebration of the wonderful work which takes place in the school. Mr Lloyd, Headmaster, commented: “We are all so proud of each and every child. It has been wonderful to see their achievements recognised so fully today, and to enjoy their splendid performances. It was also marvellous to announce the imminent commencement of building our new Preparatory School, to accommodate all the children on the waiting list from September 2014!”
