Plymouth College Abigail Ingram HockeyTalented hockey player selected for England Futures Cup

Plymouth College pupil, Abigail Ingram, 15, has been selected to the Wessex Leopards U16 squad for the England Hockey Futures Cup.  The tournament pits the best U16 players in the country against each other and offers the opportunity for selection to the full England Trials.

Following on from last season’s call up to the West of England U15 hockey squad, Abigail has continued to impress the England selectors as a core member of the U16 Regional Performance Centre training sessions at Exeter and Bristol.  The Wessex Leopards is one of only four cluster squads in the country.

“We are delighted that Abigail has been chosen to play for the Wessex Leopards in the Futures Cup”, said Plymouth College Head of Physical Education, Emma Tremaine.  “She is a talented player and is now just a few steps away from making the England squad.”

The Futures Cup is being played Thursday October 30th to Sunday 2nd November at Cannock Hockey Club in Birmingham.

Plymouth College Jake Libby CricketProfessional cricketer returns to school

Former Plymouth College pupil and professional cricketer, Jake Libby, returned to school just before half term to offer some expert coaching to up-an-coming cricketers.

Jake, 21, has a two year contract with Nottinghamshire and scored a century on his debut for the county club – he was the first Nottinghamshire player to achieve this for 60 years.  Jake said of his return to Plymouth College:

“It was great to come back to Plymouth College where I have a lot of fond memories.  It was good to be able to give something back and I hope that I can help out again in the future.  The cricket is in very capable hands and has some talented young players.

“I loved my time at school, it helped me develop my cricket and as a person.  I wish them all the best in the coming year.”
