On Saturday 16th March 2013 the Ratcliffe College Parents’ Association proudly welcomed Rosemary Conley as a Ratcliffe College Spring fairguest to open their annual charity event in Aid of Steps and The Kwalukonge Health Centre in Tanzania.

Rosemary Conley is both the Patron and a Trustee of a local charity called Steps, a conductive education centre in Shepshed.

This is a fantastic organisation offering help, support and education to children from all over the East Midlands with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Downs and other motor disorders.

It was chosen this year as the local beneficiary for the Spring Fair alongside the Kwalukonge Health Centre in Tanzania.

The Kwalukonge Health Centre is an East African hospital caring for over 16,000 people and urgently needs a new operating theatre. This year they hope to raise in the region of £6000 to purchase vital lifesaving equipment. We are extremely pleased that we can add to these funds after such a wonderful event.

The day raised over £5000 and this will be split equally between Steps and the Kwalukonge Health Centre.
Although the day was somewhat cold and wet we had a very good attendance and we do feel very privileged to have such supportive families in the school.

The Spring Fair has become a firm favourite on the calendar. There is always plenty to do, indoor and outdoor games, hovercraft rides, an X-box Forza contest, face painting and of course the firm favourites, the Easter Egg Tombola and the Raffle. This year we were very kindly donated a round of golf for 4 at St Andrews. We auctioned this and our lucky winner very generously paid £426.72.
