Luke Gyesi-Appiah, Year 9, has been shortlisted for the 16th award of the prestigious St Paul’s International Literary Prize Competition, which takes place annually in Barcelona.

Luke wrote a short story entitled ‘Chestnut-Eyed Wonder,’ about a boy who suffered the tragic loss of a girlfriend, only for her to reappear to him and persuade him to change the course of his life.

Luke is one of five shortlisted candidates who will travel to St Paul’s School on 18th April to attend the award ceremony. The guest speaker will be journalist and writer Marius Carol, one of Spain’s finest journalists.

Mr Gareth Lloyd, Headmaster, commented: “We are all delighted for Luke, but this has not come as a surprise. He is one of the most talented English scholars that we have ever seen, with a passionate love for literature and an incredible sense of the dramatic. Congratulations, Luke!”
