read_school_saatchi_gallerySeveral Sixth Form and Year 11 art students from The Read School have their A-level work currently displayed on the website of the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Having been entered by art teacher Ms Yates for the 2014 Saatchi Gallery / Deutsche Bank Art Prize for schools, which is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world, these students have the honour of seeing their work on display for all to see.

The Prize is part of the Saatchi Gallery’s education programme which is committed to introducing contemporary art to younger audiences.  It attracts a first prize of £10,000, which will be awarded to the winning school’s art department, with a further £2,000 given to the winning pupil to be spent on art and computer equipment. Two further runner-up prizes of £5,000 each will be awarded to the second and third placed schools, with a further £1,000 to each of the winning pupils.

The shortlist of schools and entries will be featured in an exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in February 2014 where the winner will be announced.  We wish all our entrants the best of luck.
