Two Read School Sixth Formers made the journey to London last week to received their Gold Awards, the culmination of lots of hard work and determination.
Emily Walton, (18, from Goole), current Head Girl at the school, and fellow Sixth Former, Eleanor Smales (18, from Hillam) travelled to St James’ s Palace in London to receive their prestigious awards from no other than the Duke of Edinburgh himself. Both girls felt that it was a great honour to be presented with their awards by the Duke in person and are very proud of their achievements, having worked towards all three awards during their time at The Read School. A number of other students at the school have also achieved their Gold Award over the last year and are currently waiting patiently for their Awards ceremonies to come around! Congratulations to them all!
