Ryda Penrhos Maintains High IB Calibre
(L-R) The three top performers, Chatrin Suksasilp, Cyd Cowley and Glen Davies.

Rydal Penrhos School has maintained its high calibre of International Baccalaureate results this year with a significant number of candidates achieving exceptional results well above the worldwide average of 30 points.

In total, the school has achieved an average score of 34 out of 45 points in the internationally-recognised diploma, with five candidates scoring 40 points or more – the equivalent of over four A* graded A-levels – and a further three pupils gaining 39 points. Pupils undertaking the International Baccalaureate benefit hugely from the broad range of skills and subjects covered, which keeps their Higher Education options open and prepares them very well for university and working life.

Cyd Cowley achieved an incredible 44 points, one point from a perfect score, with Chatrin Suksasilp only one point behind with a brilliant 43. Glen Davies and Julius Seifert also scored very highly achieving 40 points apiece, while Marla Rinne was exceptional, achieving her 40 points while still only 17 years old and a year below the rest of the candidates: a remarkable achievement. The school was also delighted with the 39 points scored by Hannah Patrick, Lara Roth and Florian Schaetzler.

Rydal Penrhos Headmaster, Patrick Lee-Browne, said, “I am delighted with this year’s fine IB results. They reflect a very considerable degree of hard work by our pupils and their teachers, who should all be congratulated on the achievement. It is clear, year by year, that the IB Diploma enables our pupils to succeed at the very highest level. It generates a genuine fascination with learning in its own right, which sets our pupils up very well for all the challenges that lie ahead of them. The results are outstanding, placing some of our pupils among the top scoring IB candidates in the world. I would like to congratulate all our 2015 leavers, and wish them well as they move on to their university careers.”
