Head of St Hilda’s Mrs Loraine Cavanagh and Aldenham Headmaster Mr James Fowler at St Hilda’s School in BusheyUnder this new arrangement, St Hilda’s will continue to operate as an independent preparatory school for girls aged 3–11, but will now be part of the Aldenham Foundation, which currently educates 700 boys and girls at Aldenham Senior School and Aldenham Preparatory School on its 100-acre site near Letchmore Heath. Since its foundation in 1918, St Hilda’s has offered girls a high-quality education on its attractive site four miles away in the middle of Bushey.

Commenting on the change, St Hilda’s Head Loraine Cavanagh said: ‘The most important aspect of our alliance with Aldenham is that, while we will have the backing of a large and prestigious public school, we will be able to remain for the foreseeable future a preparatory school for girls, with our own unique ethos and independence. Aldenham are determined to support us in this aim.’

Headmaster of Aldenham James Fowler commented: ‘I have known St Hilda’s for many years as a school of real quality and distinction. The opportunity to secure and help shape its future is exciting for us all.’
