Pupils from St Peter’s School in York will take to the stage tonight (Wednesday 25 November) in a performance of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
The production, which includes pupils from age 14 to 18, will run for three nights until Friday 27 November.
The play follows a neighbourhood in unrest after a group of girls accuse townspeople of witchcraft. It is a dramatised and partially fictionalised story of the Salem witch trials that took place in Massachusetts during 1692 and 1693.
Helen Lindley, Director of Drama at St Peter’s School, said: “This year marks centenary of Arthur Miller’s birth, so it’s great to be doing one of his plays to mark this anniversary. It is a challenge for the actors and they have all risen to this fantastically. I am excited for opening night.”
Tickets are still available and are priced at £5 for under 18s and OAPS, and £10 for adults.
