ratcliffe_college_rugby_successU13 rugby team pulled off a remarkable victory in the County Plate Final following a stirring second half comeback.

The Under 13 rugby team travelled to Leicester Grammar School to play in their County Plate Final against Gartree High School. The game started poorly for Ratcliffe and the team found themselves 0-14 down at half time and things looked bleak. However, a stirring effort in the 2nd half with tries from Charlie Pickering and Declan McAuley got Ratcliffe back in the game and with time running out and Ratcliffe camped in the Gartree 22 Niall McWhir, crossed the line for the winning try to crown a fantastic team effort and send the Ratcliffe supporters wild!

Captain, Ben McMillan, was thrilled to receive the wonderful trophy, which has been in existence since 1937! The trophy will be awarded in Headmaster’s Assembly on Monday morning before taking its place in the school trophy cabinet.

Congratulations to all the boys who have represented the U13 team this season and especially to those who played in the final yesterday. Congratulations also to Mr Stone for his hard work with the team this season.
