Merchiston Castle Golf AcademyThe Golf Academy at Merchiston is currently recruiting boys to start in September 2011 and is led by Alan Murdoch FPGA BSc. Alan is a highly respected Scottish coach who qualified as a PGA Professional in 1994. After a career playing on the Asian Omega Tour, and the European Challenge Tour, and time coaching in Germany, Alan returned to Scotland to become Director of Golf at the Kings Acre Golf Academy. Over the last two weeks, as technical golf coach to European Tour player Andrew Oldcorn, Andrew has finished 2nd at Stapleford Park and on Sunday crowned off a remarkable spell by winning The De Vere Club PGA Seniors Championship at the tough Slaley Hall.
Outclassing a top field of players, Kings Acre touring professional, Andrew romped home by an impressive 9 shot victory.

The week prior, Andrew had not been happy with his game in America. A disappointing performance in the USPGA at Valhalla, Louisville caused Alan to fly down to meet Andrew at Stapleford Park. Andrew comments,
“I just needed Alan to sort out my iron play and putting as it had been awful during the USPGA. Alan spotted a couple of things I needed to alter slightly and within a day I felt a huge transformation. Thanks to Alan, it definitely helped me over the last two weeks. I think I owe him a drink! “

Andrew now heads of to Cologne, Germany, now ranked 2 on the European Seniors Order of Merit, just behind an infamous gentleman, 5 time British Open Winner, Mr Tom Watson!

Merchiston is delighted with this success and joins Alan in wishing Andrew all the best
