Warminster School Going for Gold!

Twenty-one of our Sixth Form pupils successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award practice kayaking warminster school going for gold expedition over the weekend.

It was originally planned that the expedition would take place at sea but, due to adverse weather conditions, this had to be moved to the River Thames.

All the participants seemed pleased with the change of plan, due to the fact that they had endured a particularly tough expedition in stormy weather in March.

The pupils set off on Saturday, 13th April in high spirits and, after a gruelling day of rowing against strong currents and winds, their faces matched the colour of their hands!

The company leading the expedition, Land and Wave Ltd., commented on the strong team-work and support the pupils gave each other, and were most impressed by what good company they were.

It was a great achievement for each of the pupils involved and provided an exciting and fitting end to their Easter holiday. Congratulations to all, and good luck for the final qualifying expedition, which takes place in June.
