Warminster School Phantom award We are delighted to announce that Warminster School has been awarded the '2012 Best Musical Theatre Production in South West England' by NODA (the National Operatic and Dramatic Association) for our recent production of The Phantom of the Opera.

The School staged this amazing spectacle in November at The Athenaeum in Warminster.

It was enormously well received and sold out over the whole of its five-day run.

Many of those who saw it compared it to a professional performance from the West End.

A recent NODA review lavishly praised our Phantom, opening with, “WOW what a production! To perform this mammoth musical as a school and in such a small theatre was a huge undertaking but one that was achieved in spades by Warminster School.”

The reviewer spoke about the terrific performances, music and technical aspects of the show, “It was a sheer delight to be in the audience and be part of this masterpiece… It was difficult to believe that this was a school production as the quality of every aspect from programme to staging and from orchestra to performance was so good.”

On top of this achievement, NODA’s South-West Councillor, Nick Lawrence, informs us that we have been nominated for two more awards. These are the ‘Stage Electrics Award for Technical Achievement 2012’ and the ‘Haslemere Awards for Visual Excellences’.

The winners will be announced in early March but it is really something to be nominated as these awards are of a national standard.

It means we are in competition with theatre companies which have performed in top national venues such as the Bristol Hippodrome and the Cardiff Millennium Centre.
