Wellington Prep School Easter BonnetsWellington Prep School children have had an exciting week in the run-up to Easter. On Tuesday, the beautiful chapel was packed with parents and friends to watch the Nursery and Reception children in an Easter Bonnet parade and be part of a moving Easter play. Members of the Prep School presented an innovative “news reporter” version of the Easter story and there were some superb toe-tapping songs. The magnificent Chapel organ was played expertly by John Young, and as the sun poured in through the beautiful leaded windows, it felt as though Spring was just around the corner.

This was followed by two performances of Tudor Rose – a wonderful musical interpretation of the reign of Henry the 8th and Elizabeth 1st.

The children in Years 3 and 4 have worked incredibly hard under the guidance of Roger Hitchin and the teaching staff at Wellington Prep.  The one hour performance includes some delightful songs and more than a smattering of humour! Each character has been interpreted brilliantly, and the packed audiences had to keep reminding themselves these children are just 8 and 9 years old. The reeling dancers and the extraordinary battle scenes will be remembered for a very long time. As a grand finale, a full Spanish Armada sailed across the school hall accompanied by stirring music!
