Science ruled the day for A-level results at Westonbirt School in Tetbury.

The 28 girls achieved 100% pass rate in A-levels with 50% of the exams in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects.

International student Ruby Chan from Hong Kong received the top marks with four As and one  A*. She will study maths and physics at University College London.

Alice Wordsworth, 18, from Salisbury, was delighted with her 3 As. She is going to study drama at Exeter.

“Your whole school career comes down to today and just three little letters will determine your future,” she said. “I’m so relieved.”

Amy Chambers, from Poole Keynes, Cirencester, was thrilled with her results. She will study animal behaviour at Chester University.

Bryony Curry, from Malmesbury, received 3 Bs in biology, psychology and Latin. The 18-year-old will study biology at Cardiff University. “It’s much better than I thought.”

“As a non-selective school we have achieved some excellent grades for our students with most of our girls going on to study at their first choice institutions and reading subjects ranging from biomedical science to business and finance,” said Headmistress Natasha Dangerfield.
