England lacrosse player Emily Brooks led the way with GCSE results at Westonbirt School.
The 16-year-old from Malmesbury, who received 10 A*s and one A, has spent the summer in the United States with the England U19 lacrosse team.
The Tetbury girls’ school achieved 99% A*-E results with all of the 28 girls achieving at least seven pass marks.
“I’m utterly shocked by my results. When it came to revision I had to put the lacrosse on hold and prioritised my time,” said Emily. “When the exams were done it was bags of training.”
Emily, who is back training with the England team at Twickenham on August 30, said the US tour was amazing. Her ambition is to play for England in the World Cup.
“I have become such a better player and playing with the older girls has taken my skills to a new level. It was really hard but such a buzz.”
Her fellow lacrosse player Katherine Edwards, from Didmarton, received five A*, two As and three Bs. Katherine plays for Wales U19s.
“I’m really pleased. It’s hard to squeeze in everything,” said Katherine who is off to Monmouth for three days’ training with Wales.
Trudi Seager, from Wotton-under-Edge, was in tears after reading that she had received 4.5 A* (correct) and 6As. “It’s all been a bit surreal. I had tiny butterflies this morning. I’ve waited so long for this.”
Sally Gibbs, from Tetbury, received the top marks with five As, three A*s and one B.
“I’m relieved. It’s been two years of hard work but worth it. Now it’s on to A-levels,” said the 16-year-old.
Headmistress Natasha Dangerfield said: “It isn’t simply about how many As or A*s have been achieved, it is about how well the individual has done in comparison to their potential.
“These grades reflect excellent application and some real turnarounds for some of our girls and we are delighted for them. Westonbirt prides itself on being a non-selective school and these are solid and reflective results.”
