WAVPA began life as Whitgift Arts Programme (WAP), which enjoyed a successful pilot programme. WAP was set up in September 2013 as a free scheme for Whitgift boys and girls from local Croydon schools. It taught Dance, Drama and Musical theatre training to children aged 10-18. WAP was led by experienced teachers, dancers and actors every Saturday during term time. Due to the success of WAP, Whitgift School has decided to open up the programme to the wider Croydon community and further afield, by extending the age range to 8-18. WAVPA hopes to extend its programme to Vocal Coaching and Film-Making in the future.
