Located in a picturesque quintessentially British village, this flourishing boarding and day school offers an exceptionally rounded education for pupils aged 3 to 18. Originally established in 1875, this was the very first Woodard School for girls. The safe haven of Abbots Bromley allows our students to grow up in beautiful natural surroundings, but at the same time we are never too far from locations where the pupils may benefit from cultural and intellectual experiences. Nottingham, Birmingham, Worcester, Leicester and Leeds are within easy driving distance, allowing us to benefit still further from our central geographical location. Situated at the heart of the country, we are within easy reach of some extremely well-known universities, with whom we have close ties. Keele, for example, offers excellent links for teachers and pupils, and we also have close links with Cambridge University. For students wishing to join us from overseas, three airports lie in close proximity (East Midlands, Birmingham and Manchester), whilst the fast rail link to London from Lichfield allows us to easily access our capital city within an hour and a quarter.
Roch House Preparatory School
In Roch House Preparatory School, we educate boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. This co-educational school nestles within the main school site and offers its own dedicated facilities including an ICT suite, dance studio, science laboratory and new outdoor play area. An impressive enrichment programme has been developed for pupils both in and outside the classroom, and alongside free Kindergarten places, free after-school care is also available until 5.30pm.
Abbots Bromley School for Girls
In the Senior School, we offer a girls-only programme from the age of 11 (Year 7) until the end of Upper Sixth. Whilst pupils are expected to work hard and focus carefully on their academic studies, at the same time we want the girls to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to them on site. As well as offering traditional academic subjects to A-level, we also cater for girls who wish to take alternative career routes. They may take a variety of qualifications to a high level in riding, dance and musical theatre without jeopardising any future career plans, by being able to study these alongside their core academic subjects. We are lucky to have our own Equestrian Centre on site, fabulous modern dance facilities and a newly refurbished theatre where the pupils can display their talents.
We offer excellent sporting facilities for budding sportswomen, such as our sports hall including a fitness suite, an all-weather hockey pitch and a heated indoor swimming pool. Music is a key feature within the School, and the opportunities for musicians are enhanced with an annual overseas tour. Recently the Choir has visited America and Malta to great acclaim.
Boarding and pastoral care
Our friendly boarding community caters for a variety of options for girls: full boarding, weekly, flexi and occasional packages are available to suit every parent’s requirements. Boarding is increasingly popular and, with careful liaison between the academic and the pastoral staff, pupils may be discreetly monitored at all times to ensure that they are settled and successful.
Ethos
The impressive Chapel, which is a key feature of the School, remains at the heart of all that we do. The Christian ethos and natural surroundings help to make for a secure and happy atmosphere where pupils thrive. Being a member of the Abbots Bromley School community is like joining an extended family, where lifelong friendships are forged. Pupils and staff who leave the School are never far away, as they may stay in touch with the School through the well-established ‘Guild’ alumni body.

Alkins School of Dance
Our internationally respected dance school offers dance and musical theatre classes for all levels, culminating in a variety of examinations, including BTEC. The Vocational Dance Course allows students to extend their studies to a professional level, unusually alongside an academic programme, allowing them to study for GCSE or A-levels, if they so wish. The highly qualified and experienced staff includes former international ballerinas and a Director of Dance with many years’ experience as an examiner with the Royal Academy of Dance.
Equestrian Centre
The Equestrian Centre boasts superb opportunities for both the beginner and the experienced rider.
Pupils may train for British Horse Society (BHS) exams up to Assistant Instructor (AI), Progressive Riding tests, BTEC exams and Pony Club tests and badges. On-site facilities include a floodlit outdoor area, indoor school and stabling for up to 22 ponies and horses.
