The academic programme
Our IB/A-level programme is organised into four blocks, each of seven-and-a-half hours a week. Lessons include a mixture of theory and practical including field trips and laboratory work. Students are encouraged to work independently and to develop study skills to take with them to school, university and beyond into their professional lives. We offer the following subject options, and students aged 15+ get a free choice of four subjects each week to suit their individual needs, from: English literature, English skills, IELTS preparation, theory of knowledge, presentation skills, essay-writing skills, biology, chemistry, physics,
economics, geography, history, psychology, media studies, politics, drama and art.

Students aged 13–14 are in our GCSE groups. This programme covers a wide range of academic subjects appropriate to the ages and study stages of the students in the group. We follow a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach which is modern EFL methodology and is very effective in helping students improve their language skills. Students aged 7–13 are taught by experienced primary school teachers who know how young learners learn best. Academic Juniors is a specialist programme for this age group to meet students’ needs both academically and socially.
The leisure programme
Academic Summer offers a structured and balanced leisure programme including sports, evening activities, guest lecture speakers and weekend trips to complement the academic programme and to encourage cultural awareness and social interaction. Students participate in our Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) aspect of the course. This element of the programme helps students to appreciate life outside the academic arena and they are encouraged to learn new skills. Students participate in sport and art activities, in a charity event and an international event to promote their countries during their time at Academic Summer.
