School Information

Experience the difference
The boarding house at ACS International School Cobham is one of Europe’s
premier residential school facilities, offering accommodation for up to
230 boys and girls aged between 13 and 18. A new £15m boarding house,
Woodlands, was opened at the start of the 2017/18 school year, including single
en-suite rooms for all senior-year students. Our existing boarding house, Fields,
is being fully refurbished this year to a similar premium quality.
Our boarding houses provide a relaxed, secure home for students from over
30 nationalities. We are very proud of our international roots, and actively
celebrate the diversity of each other’s cultures and customs as an integral
part of boarding life. We also believe that the boarding experience should
encourage positive involvement, with students engaged in a wide variety of
extracurricular activities, including international nights, barn dances, house
athletic competitions, quiz nights, leadership challenge weekends, skills for
life courses, talent nights, formal dinners, countless cultural trips to London,
barbecues, an art club, October break international trips, and participation in
the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and the ACS outreach programme in
Namibia. Organised school activities, including weekend trips, are included in
our fees.
International curriculum
ACS Cobham offers an international university preparatory curriculum (rather
than GCSEs and A-levels), including the renowned International Baccalaureate
(IB) and Advanced Placement (AP courses). ACS Cobham has nearly 30
years’ experience of teaching the IB, which is reflected in the excellent
results our students regularly achieve. Last year our graduating students
achieved a 94% pass rate and an average score equivalent to over three A*s
at A-level. Graduates from ACS regularly go on to study at the world’s leading
universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics and
Imperial College in the UK, and Harvard, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins in
the US.
State-of-the-art facilities
All student rooms have en-suite bathrooms and individual study desks, and
all students have use of the internet, community lounges, games rooms, a
boarders-only dining hall for breakfast and dinner, and fully equipped student
kitchenettes. At lunch, students use the purpose-built food court complex,
which serves up a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet that fully embraces
the multicultural diversity of our student body. Students and teachers
can engage with the world of learning around them through our 134-seat
Interactive Learning Centre, and we recently opened a Performing Arts Centre
with a new theatre and music studios. Campus recreational facilities include
football and rugby fields, an all-weather Olympic-sized athletics track, six
tennis courts and a six-hole golf course. In addition, boarders have full use of
our state-of-the-art sports centre, which comprises an international arena, a
gymnasium, a 25-metre competition swimming pool, a weight training room,
and a dance and aerobics studio.
