The school
Ashville College is an independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 4–18 years. The College is in Harrogate, one of the North of England’s most attractive towns, and is close to the local airport and major road and rail links.

Ashville College was founded in 1877 by the Methodist Church. We believe that our teaching, facilities and environment reflect the very best in  contemporary education. Our aim is to provide a broad, balanced and appropriate education for each of our students. We recognise that no two  children are the same, therefore we cannot create a formula for education which will work for every student. Instead we focus on individual  development, and seek ways to help each member of our community discover his or her strengths.

From the Headmaster
Here at Ashville we are committed to educating the whole person. We inspire and challenge our students to think rather than merely learn. We get to  know our students well to ensure that our education is enjoyable and inspirational. The school has outstanding academics together with an excellent reputation for pastoral care. In 2009, the school was recognised as one of the Top 100 Schools in the UK, which considered a wide range of criteria. In both 2009 and 2010 it was ranked as one of the top schools in North Yorkshire at both GCSE and A-level. The top university destinations include Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, York and Manchester

Boarding school life
Boarders at Ashville live in our well-equipped and comfortable houses. There are no more than eight students in any dormitory, and sixth-formers have  study-bedrooms. Boarders have their own kitchens, lounges, cable TV, video, DVD and internet access. There is also a medical centre which is  available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The school campus has playing fields, a sports centre and swimming pool, all of which can be used after school and at weekends.
The ISC Inspection in 2010 reported boarding as 'outstanding'.

Boarding activities
The school’s excellent sports facilities are available out of school hours. Sunday afternoon is a time for pupils to pursue a wide range of sporting and  non-sporting activities. Every student is encouraged to pursue an activity. Suggestions for new activities are always taken into consideration. In addition  to these activities, trips and weekend excursions are organised throughout the year.

Students who choose boarding, whether full or weekly, appreciate how much it can add to their lives. They like the structure of the days and weeks.  They enjoy living close to their friends. They appreciate the facilities and the fact that there is always plenty to do. Most of all, they love being part of a  community which cares for them and puts their interests first.

學校寄宿生活
阿什維爾的寄宿生生活在我們的設施齊全和舒適的寄宿樓內。每間宿舍的學生人數都不超過八名，六年級學生有學習臥室。寄宿生有自己的廚房、休息室、有線電視、視頻、DVD和互聯網接入。學校有一個每週 7 天全天 24 小時開放的醫療中心。校園裏有運動場、體育中心和游泳池，供學生在放學後和週末使用。2007年，寄宿檢查人員對阿什維爾的所有五個方面的評價均是優。

寄宿活動
學校的優良體育設施可供學生課外使用。學生們可以在星期天下午從事廣泛的體育和非體育活動。我們鼓勵每名學生都從事一項活動。增加新活動的建議始終都會得到考慮。除了這些活動之外，學校全年都組織旅遊和週末遊覽。

El colegio
Ashville College es un colegio independiente que ofrece régimen interno y externo para chicos y chicas de 4 a 18 años. Se encuentra en Harrogate, una de las ciudades más atractivas del norte de Inglaterra, cerca del aeropuerto local y de las principales conexiones por carretera y tren.

La vida escolar en el internado
Los alumnos internos viven en nuestras casas, cómodas y muy bien equipadas. En los dormitorios hay un máximo de ocho estudiantes y los alumnos de 16 a 18 años tienen dormitorios con mesas de estudio. Los internos disponen de sus propias cocinas, salas, TV por cable, vídeo, DVD y conexión a Internet. También hay un centro médico que está a su disposición 24 horas al día, 7 días a la semana. El campus escolar tiene campos deportivos, un centro de deportes y una piscina que pueden ser utilizados después del horario escolar y los fines de semana. En 2010 los inspectores de internados valoraron las instalaciones de Ashville como "Outstanding" en las cinco categorías consideradas.

Actividades para alumnos internos
Las excelentes instalaciones deportivas del colegio están disponibles fuera del horario escolar. Los domingos por la tarde los alumnos pueden elegir entre una amplia gama de actividades deportivas y no deportivas. Se alienta a todos los estudiantes a dedicarse a alguna actividad y siempre se tienen en cuenta las sugerencias sobre nuevas actividades. Además de estas actividades, se organizan viajes y excursiones de fin de semana durante todo el año.

Los estudiantes que eligen el internado, bien sea trimestral o semanal, valoran todo lo que puede aportar a sus vida. Les gusta la estructura que se da a los días y semanas, y disfrutan viviendo junto a sus amigos. Aprecian las instalaciones y la variedad de actividades que pueden realizar. Y sobre todo, les encanta ser parte de una comunidad que se preocupa por ellos y antepone sus intereses a todo lo demás.


Residir en el internado es como ser parte de una gran familia… es el centro de la comunidad de Ashville.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Ashville currently offers the following scholarships and bursaries:

Forces Boarding Bursary - If a parent is serving in the armed forces and their children are boarding at Ashville, the bursary is 10% of tuition and boarding fees for junior and senior school pupils.

Children of Methodist Ministers Bursary - If a parent is serving as a Methodist Minister, their children are entitled to a 10% bursary on tuition and boarding fees for pre-prep, junior and senior school pupils.

For families in membership of a Methodist Church, means-tested bursaries are also available, administered by the Methodist Independent Schools Trust. The deadline for applications is Friday 27th January 2012 and application forms are available upon request from the College.

Discretionary awards

Scholarships - These are awarded at the discretion of the Headmaster for excellence in academic performance and other areas. Scholarships are awarded to pupils for specific stages of their education at Ashville.

Financial Assistance - Bursaries are available at the discretion of the school, and are means tested. Bursaries are generally awarded in the Spring term and parents are encouraged to apply in the Autumn term.

Art, Drama, Music and Sports Scholarships

In addition to Academic scholarships, Ashville College offers scholarships for Art, Drama & Music on entry into Year 7, Year 10 and Year 12 (Lower Sixth). Sports scholarships may be awarded on entry into Year 10 and Year 12 (Lower Sixth).

This section explains the assessment process and, where possible, the standards expected at each level. All candidates will be required to gain the normal academic qualifications to enter the school.

In each case, parents must notify the Registrar if they wish their child to be considered for a scholarship, Scholarships will be awarded in the Summer Term.
