Beechwood Sacred Heart SchoolAbout Beechwood
Beechwood combines girls-only boarding with a co-educational day school. It is located in 23 acres of landscaped grounds near to the centre of historic Royal Tunbridge Wells, one hour by train from London. Founded in 1915 by the Society of the Sacred Heart, Beechwood encourages high standards and values derived from its Catholic tradition. Pupils of all religions are welcomed today, just as they have been throughout the history of the school.

A unique boarding experience
The girls-only boarding school means that boarders have the opportunity to focus on study at weekends and in the evenings, and make friends with girls from all over the world. The day-school gives them the opportunity to prepare for life at university and beyond, by being taught alongside boys in a natural co-educational environment. Beechwood has a homely, supportive atmosphere. Recent modernisation has provided two-bedded rooms for juniors, with older students having their own single study bedrooms. Our friendly atmosphere helps students to settle in quickly, enjoying on-site facilities and trips out in the weekend activities programme. “The quality of pastoral care, support and guidance is outstanding” Latest ISI report

Beechwood Sacred Heart SchoolEnglish lessons
Girls who need to improve their English receive specialist lessons, and some choose to come 1-2 terms early to develop their language skills and vocabulary before beginning examination courses. Sixth Formers benefit from speech & drama lessons, which help them with pronunciation and build confidence in speaking, in addition to preparation for the IELTS examination needed for university entrance.
“The standard of teaching is good overall, largely due to teachers’ detailed knowledge of the pupils, and the excellent relationships between staff and pupils.” Latest ISI report

Beechwood Sacred Heart SchoolHigh academic standards

Academic results are consistently high with Beechwood placed in the top 10% schools in England for A-level university points.

Obese Prince gets more than he bargained for!

This term senior pupils from Beechwood Sacred Heart School, Tunbridge Wells presented the comedy “Battle Royal” by Nick Stafford-Clark. This witty play charts a fascinating chapter in the history of the British monarchy - full of scandals, press intrusion, illicit affairs, overspending and political meddling. It centres around George, the Prince Regent in 1795, who is put under pressure to marry, and thus relieve himself of his many debts, and produce an heir. The tempestuous marriage between George and Caroline, his outspoken wife, has often been paralleled with that of Charles and Diana!
