Burgess Hill School for Girls Boarding
The School is pleased to welcome girls into a full boarding environment from age 11, with casual/flexi-boarding from the age of 7.

Facilities
The girls each live in one of three very attractive boarding houses, each with its own modern facilities. There are light and spacious common rooms, good computer facilities, a games room, and kitchens for making snacks. The gardens are used for summer barbecues and relaxation. The houses are run as informally as possible, creating the atmosphere of a happy family home. Safety, happiness and security are of paramount importance.

The School environment
The staff are experienced, sensitive, supportive and helpful. They appreciate fully the adjustments that both students and parents often have to make when a girl boards for the first time.

The relationships between the staff and students are based on mutual trust and respect. The boarding experience is of great benefit, teaching as it does important skills such as taking personal responsibility and living in harmony with others – invaluable skills to learn before going to university or college. There is a strong sense of community where loyal and caring friendships lend support and encouragement to every individual. Academic excellence is achieved through high expectations, strong motivation, excellent teaching and small classes. The majority of leavers go on to higher education, studying a wide range of courses such as medicine, accountancy and law, while others follow careers in art, drama and music.

The School’s facilities are available to the boarders in the evenings and at weekends. This, coupled with companionship and friendship, makes boarding great fun. Each weekend a variety of entertaining activities are organised, which are both stimulating and instructive. The School has a very strong musical tradition including orchestras, choirs and ensemble groups. Team sports, squash, swimming, riding, Young Enterprise and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme are amongst the many extracurricular activities on offer.

The School provides excellent English as a Second Language (ESL) support, if necessary.

Fees are very competitive, especially for boarding. All tuition, meals and accommodation, and books (other than sixth-form books) are included. Entrance to the School is by examination and current school report.

Location
On the edge of the town of Burgess Hill in very pleasant rural surroundings. Three minutes’ walk to the mainline station to London, 20 minutes by car to Gatwick and 60 minutes to Heathrow. Transport to and from airports is arranged. Easy access to ports and the Channel Tunnel.

Academic excellence is achieved by high expectations, very strong motivation, excellent teaching and small classes.
