Cobham Hall
A distinctive educational experience
Girls come to study at Cobham Hall from all over the world, attracted not only by the consistently good academic results but by the very special ethos of the school. Cobham Hall has been a member of Round Square for over 40 years, and is also an IB World School, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in sixth form. Both organisations share the belief that education for today’s young people should be exciting and challenging, designed to encourage personal development and produce thoughtful and well-informed citizens. Our close proximity to London, with its vibrant cultural life, ensures that our girls enjoy a well-rounded education.
The school provides a secure but challenging environment which stimulates independent thinking and a strong sense of enquiry. Small classes and dedicated teaching ensure that every student is supported according to her needs. Consistently excellent results in public examinations reflect the school ethos of building confidence and helping every student achieve their best.
Younger boarders have rooms in the main Hall, shared according to age and friendship groups. Sixth-form students live in purpose-built houses that allow for greater self-management and privileges, creating a bridge between school and university life.
No excuse for boredom!
Academic achievement is a high priority, but success is also celebrated in other fields, including art, drama, music and sport. Cobham Hall has excellent sports facilities and offers an exceptional programme of exciting and interesting extracurricular activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. ( up to Gold Standard.)

All candidates are invited to attend Entrance Assessment Day in November, when they will sit examination papers in English and Mathematics and will have an interview with the Headmaster.
All candidates will be invited back to attend Recall Day in January, when they will sit an examination paper in Science. On the strength of the Maths and English papers taken the previous November, selected candidates will be invited to sit the scholarship papers and to have further interviews with the Headmaster and senior staff.
We offer two types of Sixth Form Scholarship: Major Scholarships and Subject-specific Awards. These are for two years, covering the complete course to IB or A Level [in the case of Art].
If you wish to apply for a Major Scholarship, you must offer two subjects for examination. These should be your strongest subjects, and subjects which you intend to study as part of the IB Diploma Programme.
Candidates sit a 90 minute paper in each subject, a 2 hour General Paper, and have two interviews, one of 10 minutes with the Headmaster and one of 20 minutes with a member of the Senior Academic Committee.
Applications are also considered for Subject-specific Awards in Art, Music, Drama/Theatre Studies and PE. If one of these Awards is offered, the subject must be taken as part of the IB Diploma Programme, otherwise the scholarship may be withdrawn.
