School life
With around 500 pupils, Dean Close is a place where all faces are familiar. Based on strong Christian values and helped by impressive facilities, it nurtures academic, sporting, artistic and musical talents, but also friendship, integrity and mutual respect. Classrooms, laboratories, seminar rooms and the library are fitted to the highest standards with state-of-the-art technology. These facilities and the excellence of the teaching staff explain why 98% of pupils gain university places each year.

Extracurricular activities
Both music and art are based in modern, purpose-built accommodation, and a superlative 550-seat ‘professional’ theatre produces high-quality musicals, plays and concerts all year round. These facilities are used in the curriculum, and also constitute the basis for the huge array of clubs and societies available to pupils. Fine facilities including a recently built £3m sports hall, together with professional coaching, lead to excellence in a wide range of sports, including hockey (Boys U14 and U18 National Finalists 2010), rugby, tennis, athletics, and swimming in a 25-metre indoor pool. A fully equipped gymnasium, squash courts and indoor rifle range further support regular sporting activities alongside more unusual facilities, such as a climbing wall and outdoor theatre. It is not possible to describe all the facilities in these pages – a visit is essential!

Scholarships and grants
The School has generous scholarship schemes; a booklet about these may be obtained from the Registrar. It is possible to apply for these awards – which may be academic, musical, artistic, sporting, dramatic or an ‘all-rounder’ – at 11, 13 and 16.

Location
The School sits on the outskirts of Cheltenham town centre, which is a short walk away. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, Cheltenham is an acknowledged architectural, cultural and educational centre accessible by air (Birmingham/Bristol/Cardiff), rail and coach and is five minutes from the M5 motorway.
