Achievement, confidence and happiness are central to the College philosophy, with pupils always encouraged to aim high and reach their full potential.
We offer a rounded education, where proper emphasis is placed on academic achievement, but where a wide range of other opportunities ensures that every individual finds and develops his or her own talents. Denstonians emerge with a degree of self-esteem and confidence that is only possible after years of opportunity and challenge, both academic
and extracurricular.
The College site of over 100 acres is located in magnificent countryside, yet is well served by road, rail and air. We welcome parents and their children to visit us and experience a taste of the Denstone education.
socialise in their own unique areas. It is based on the fact that 18-year-olds and the under-13s have very different needs. The traditional house system runs happily alongside this structure, and all its best features remain. House loyalty and spirit are as strong as ever in competitions, sport, music and drama.
In recent years the College has benefited from a £10m development programme, with a new Music School and additional classrooms opened in September 2010. Further extensive classroom facilities and the Adamson’s sports complex were completed and opened in June 2012. The day and boarding accommodation has undergone complete modernisation and redecoration, and impressive language and IT teaching facilities have been developed, along with general classroom refurbishments; all are equipped with interactive whiteboards and computers. A large sports hall has been built to allow for a wide range of minority and unusual sports. Other recent improvements and additions include a theatre, £750,000 of works to the kitchens and servery, a sixth-form centre and a second Astroturf.

Opportunities
A Denstone education gives students more choices and greater opportunities to expand their horizons. Frequent trips are a feature of our calendar, and a programme of more than 40 activities and an excellent record in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme also help to ensure that Denstonians are always busy.
Our sporting history is outstanding. We have a modern sports hall, swimming pool, two all-weather AstroTurfs, fives courts and an English Golf Union (EGU)-affiliated golf course.
Academic focus
Pupils are given every support and opportunity to realise their full academic potential, with progress being monitored closely through a highly developed system of tutors, reports and grade sheets. We provide a purposeful environment with skilled teachers, where high standards are expected and pupil/teacher ratios are very favourable.
'Being a Denstonian gives you more chances in life... there’s no limit to what you can do.'

Open Mornings
The College usually holds two Open Mornings a year. The Autumn Open Morning is mainly for those parents who are looking for entry the following September.
Information about the entrance examinations for 11+ entry will be available on that occasion. The Summer Open Morning, usually held in May, will be for those parents who are looking for entry in over a year’s time.
We welcome all members of the family on these Open Mornings and although many families are looking for their children to join the younger years at Denstone, we do provide a separate tour and information for those looking for Sixth Form entry.
If you are unable to attend an Open Morning or prefer a private tour and meeting with the Headmaster, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office.

Jessica
Having been a day pupil for five years, Jess, aged 16, started boarding in the Sixth Form, along with a couple of friends, because she felt that it is a good preparation for university. Boarding has given her a degree of independence, and a structured timetable to do homework assignments.
Jess has 10 GCSEs (nine A* s and an A grade), and she is fully involved in the extra-curricular life of the school. She is goalkeeper for the 1st XI hockey team, and was a member of the team that won the Wrekin 7s tournament in 2004. She was in the chorus of the school play, ‘Grease’, and she is a member of the RAF Section of the Combined Cadet Force at the school.
She is enjoying the boarding in a relaxing environment and she has got on well with Mr and Mrs Hood, the boarding house parents. She is currently taking AS in English literature, maths, history, and economics.
Matthew
Matt, aged 16, is a boarding boy in the Sixth Form. He has been boarding since he joined the school in the year 2000. He particularly enjoys sport and he is currently in the 1st XV rugby team, playing at scrum half. He played for the 2nd XI hockey team last season and he is hoping to secure a place in the Firsts this year. He is also in the Combined Cadet Force.
He enjoys the social side of boarding, which gives him a chance to be with friends. He has nine GCSEs, which include two A*’s and four A’s, and he is currently studying maths, physics, art, and design technology at AS level.
