Felixstowe International College (FIC) is an independent boarding school for boys and girls aged 9–17. We specialise in providing the best education for your child in a safe and friendly environment. Our students, who attend for short courses or the full academic year, have access to a wide variety of learning opportunities which will fully prepare them for further study in Great Britain.

Aims
We aim to help the students to become fluent in English and to familiarise themselves with the English independent education system and the English way of life without discarding their own culture. They will also experience living in a boarding community with a family atmosphere.
Boarding
Pupils are accommodated in comfortable single or double study-bedrooms and are supervised and cared for by the resident Housemother, assisted by other resident staff.
Through boarding at Felixstowe, pupils learn to live and share with others and it encourages them to be self-reliant. A wide range of free-time activities during evenings and weekends make a valuable addition to the academic and creative work of the classroom. At the weekends, we organise a wide variety of activities, including visits to nearby towns and other places of interest. At FIC your child’s safety and wellbeing comes first at all times.
Curriculum
We specialise in English language tuition from beginner level up to IGCSE and IELTS. Secondary school students work towards GCSE and IGCSE
qualifications in English, mathematics and science. Younger students study towards the University of Cambridge KET and PET exams. The timetable also includes business studies (senior only), ICT, music, art, drama, sport and Personal, Social and Health Education.
Sport
We are situated directly beside a large sports centre, with five badminton courts, four basketball courts, two squash courts, four tennis courts and facilities for football, table tennis, trampolining, volleyball and many other sports. The beach is a short walk for summer games and swimming.
Extracurricular activities
Students aged 14 or over who are attending our one-year course have the opportunity to take part in the world-famous Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. For students who are under 14 we run the Young Leadership Programme. This is an excellent chance to meet new people and obtain skills both socially and practically. Schools and universities are increasingly considering the non-academic aspects of an applicant’s life when deciding upon entries.
"FIC helped me to create my dreams and become more mature. I have learnt how to study and become more sociable"
Summer Courses 2012
From 9th July – 8th September 2012
Felixstowe International College is delighted to offer three courses, and parents can decide which particular course is best suited for their child.
Intensive English Language Course
9th July – 8th September
This course will feature three hours of intensive English lessons every morning, and another two hours of English each afternoon.
Our intensive course allows students to be fully immersed in the English language whilst also learning about British culture and the education system. It is ideal for students who will be joining a British school in September as it will fully prepare them for their further studies. It also makes the transition from their country to life in England much more comfortable. We can arrange boarding facilities and lessons right up until the start of their new term.
It is also ideal for students who wish to simply improve their English over the summer holidays and to get a taste of life in Britain. Some students are unsure as to whether studying abroad would suit them, this opportunity would greatly help in making that decision.
At the end of the course all students will receive a certificate stating their attendance and also a comprehensive report on the progress that they have made.
We are confident that our course provides an excellent learning environment and that all students will benefit greatly from their stay with us.
Cost - £650.00 per week inclusive of all English lessons and excursions
English with Activities
16th July – 24th August
On this course there will be three hours of intensive English each morning, and then in the afternoon there will be a choice of fun activities. The activities will take place at our partner site, approximately 10 miles away. Activities to choose from include a climbing wall, quad biking, air rifle and archery ranges, ‘wild survival’ and an adventure playground.
If your child prefers team sports, such as football, basketball, and mini-olympics, then there are all-weather pitches and indoor sports dome to ensure that there is plenty to do whatever the weather. On hot summer days, why not chill out in the outdoor swimming pool.
