Glenalmond College stretches its pupils – academically, physically, creatively, spiritually and emotionally. The strong and supportive community helps them to develop self-belief, generosity of spirit and independence of mind, enabling them to mature into successful, confident adults.

Full boarding
The school is located in 300 acres of stunning countryside just outside Perth, and is the perfect environment for the 400 boys and girls aged 12 to 18 to grow and learn. Glenalmond is a 24/7 boarding school and 90% of its pupils are full boarders. This commitment to full boarding ensures that all pupils are in school all week and can take advantage of a busy and interesting weekend programme. All benefit from the superb pastoral care and individual attention that are central to the school’s ethos.

Academic excellence
The pursuit of excellence, with every child encouraged to make the most of their academic abilities, is central to the school’s commitment to its pupils and is demonstrated by the results achieved. All pupils follow the GCSE and A-level curriculum, with 26 subjects available at AS- and A2-level.

Beyond the classroom
Education at Glenalmond extends far beyond the classroom and encompasses all aspects of the individual – personality, character and intellect – as well as interests and achievements. Academic work is balanced with an extensive range of creative, sporting, social and adventure activities, and each child is encouraged to find those areas in which they can shine. Two pipe bands, a fantastic choir, acclaimed dramatic productions, lively debating and outstanding art and design shows offer opportunities for all.

Rugby, hockey, lacrosse, cross-country, sailing and horse riding are just a few of the sports on offer. The school also has its own golf course – one of the best in the UK. Many pupils gain their silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; there is a thriving Combined Cadet Force. In addition, all Glenalmond pupils work with local charities and in the community.

An education for life
The experience of Glenalmond is perhaps best summed up by one of the current sixth-formers, who describes the College as a place where pupils are ‘inspired to learn, determined to achieve’. Young people make friends for life, and form part of the worldwide family of Glenalmond pupils and former pupils who support and encourage each other through their school days and beyond.

Scolarships
Academic, Music, Organ, Piping, Art & Design, All-Rounder and Outstanding Talent (sport) awards/scholarships are available. Bursary funding is also available in cases of financial need.

"With a focus on academic achievement, supportedby an extensive extracurricular programme,Glenalmond provides an inspirational environmentfor young people to learn and grow."

Scholarships

Glenalmond College offers an allowance against fees for those children who are successful in the various examinations and assessments.

These are known as Scholarships and are awards of financial support based on a child demonstrating excellence or particular potential in a certain field of academic study or performance. Depending on the type of scholarship or award given, there is a percentage reduction in the overall fees.

The amount awarded for these school scholarships depends on the calibre of the candidate and is based on the performance in an examination and/or assessment.

Academic, music, piping, and art scholarships are available at Glenalmond, as well as an all-rounder award for those showing particular aptitude in more than one area including sport.

Glenalmond provides a range of college scholarship examinations to ensure that we attract the best quality pupils from all backgrounds. Scholarship pupils are thought of highly within the school.

Further details on College Scholarships and financial support can be found in A Guide to Financial Assistance 2011-12 (pdf)
