Loughborough Grammar School
Loughborough Grammer School, boys boarding school in LeicestershireFounded in 1495, Loughborough Grammar School is one of the oldest and most academically successful schools in the UK. The Grammar School educates about 1,000 boys, including 50 boarders, from the age of 10 to 18, and prides itself on providing a stimulating environment, a wide range of activities and a family atmosphere. The two boarding houses, run by a housemaster and his wife plus assistants who live on the site, are an integral part of the School, and cater for weekly and termly boarders.

The School is situated on a delightful, open campus and is ideally located in the heart of England, being very accessible by both road and rail, and within easy reach of Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports.

Curriculum
We offer a very wide and flexible curriculum in Years 6–11, combining the more traditional with the latest in technological disciplines; boys study at least nine subjects at GCSE. In 2009, 66% of GCSEs awarded were at A* or A grade, 87% at A*–B grade and 62 boys achieved at least three A grades
at A-level.

Nineteen boys were offered places at Oxford and Cambridge in 2009. Over 95% of all boys leave to follow degree courses at the most prestigious universities in the country.

Extracurricular activities
We place considerable emphasis on maximising all boys’ potential, whatever their strengths, and a wide range of music, drama and sporting activities is available. There is a vast selection of sports available to all, and boys from Loughborough are regularly selected for county, regional and national teams. We run about 50 clubs and societies for all ages and tastes, from bridge to karting and ceramics to ‘bugs’.

All overseas students joining the sixth form will be required to undertake a cultural enhancement programme for which there will be an additional charge.
