Northbourne Park
Northbourne Park School is a happy and positive community which provides an outstanding start to school life for boys and girls, equipping them with the skills and the confidence to aspire to excellence from a young age.

Pastoral Foundations

Our outstanding Nursery and Pre-Prep provision, housed in the newly refurbished Old Rectory, provides the best possible educational foundations on which the children can build towards future independence. This and our excellent pastoral care of both day and boarding children lie at the heart of our success. Our caring and dedicated teachers are skilled at discovering and nurturing young talent, inspiring in every child the mconfidence to succeed.

A Broad Preparatory Education
We believe that happy children naturally want to work hard at their school work and they want to participate across a wide range of educational experiences. Whether it is in stimulating their natural academic curiosity, in the outstanding provision of extracurricular music, sport and drama or in the wide range of other educational opportunities, our education extends far beyond the classroom.

Excellent facilities
Our beautiful buildings, including a new Boarding House, as well as new science, geography, maths, ICT, music and art facilities, together with our extensive park and woodland provide wonderful spaces for children to enjoy their school days. Whether they are playing in the woods, camping out overnight, climbing trees or following our pioneering Outdoor Leadership Programme, our children love Northbourne Park life.

A sausage factory?
Absolutely not. Northbourne Park children develop into strong and mature individuals because we know and understand every child. Our pupils are distinctive for being articulate, hard-working, confident and creative thinkers, with a mature moral compass based on firm spiritual values which benefit our whole community.
Our outstanding boarding programme offers wonderful opportunities to all children and encourages early independence, our unique bilingual environment celebrates and explores other languages, cultures and traditions and our outstanding music and outdoor education programmes provide unique opportunities to every child.

ISI Inspection

The October 2010 Independent Schools Inspectorate Report highlights our educational excellence and is available on our website. Our recordbreaking 20 scholarships to top senior schools in 2011 are testament to the success of our pupils.
Come and see for yourself why children love Northbourne Park.

'Inspiring in every child the confidence to succeed.'

Northbourne Park Language Centre summer coursesNorthbourne Park International Language Centre, an all-inclusive English language holiday for children aged between 8 and 14 years for summer 2012.

Northbourne Park School already has an excellent reputation for first-class English language teaching, and cultural exchange. For over twenty years, we have welcomed overseas pupils to enjoy a rich and challenging prep school life with us, in which they study, learn English and participate in a wide range of Sporting, Musical, Artistic and Outdoor activities. Our pupils spend either one or more years with us before returning back to their own schools.

Building on this success, this summer and for the first time, the School invites overseas children to experience just a little bit of Northbourne Park life during the summer holidays, improving their English, enjoying a wide range of sporting, artistic and cultural activities whilst making friends in the beautiful environment of Northbourne Park.

Our highly-qualified and experienced staff will teach English in the morning, provide a broad programme of activities in and out of School in the afternoons, whilst caring for your children in the warm family environment of our boarding houses.

Northbourne Park International Language Centre is located at the School in South East Kent and is ideally located for convenient travel to and from mainland Europe. It is ten minutes from Dover and within 30 minutes of Folkestone’s Eurotunnel and Ashford’s Eurostar connections, with similarly easy access to Gatwick airport and to London.

Scholarships and Bursaries
Northbourne Park School recognises that all children have gifts and talents in many areas of school life. The school sees its role as developing all of these to enable children to achieve their potential in whatever field in the pursuit of high standards of excellence.
The School also wishes to attract children of special talents into the community of the School and recognises the beneficial effect of the talented on the achievement and learning of their peers. The School therefore seeks to provide individual support for, and development of, any such special talents, as well as providing an all-round education of excellent quality for those children, a special provision which may not be available elsewhere for them.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available at the Headmaster’s discretion to those with particular academic, musical, sporting or artistic talents, and also to those who have ‘all-round’ capabilities.

Academic scholarships are based on performance in the Scholarship Days, normally held in February or on assessments which can take place at any time of the year by arrangement with the Headmaster.

All scholarships are subject to regular review to ensure that pupils’ performance continues to justify the holding of a scholarship.

Information on how to apply for a scholarship is available from the School Office.

Bursaries
Northbourne Park School seeks to ensure continuity of education for all its pupils, and to provide opportunities for those who have the potential to benefit from attendance at the School but who, without some financial assistance, might not be able to take up a place.

To this end financial support in the form of bursaries may be given on entry to the School or to existing pupils only at any time subsequently. Parents will be invited to complete a financial assessment form, based on a model provided by the Independent Schools Bursars’ Association. The scale of bursary awarded will be based on the information provided and the financial criteria which the School applies to all bursary awards.

All bursaries are reviewed annually to ensure that parental relevant income continues to meet the published financial criteria.

More information on Northbourne Park Scholarships is available on the school website or by contacting the School office.
