Information

Dollar Academy CampusDollar Academy is one of Scotland’s best schools, providing boarding and day education for boys and girls aged 5–18.

Founded in 1818, Dollar Academy has a proud heritage and an outstanding academic reputation. The school helps students develop the enthusiasm, ability and ambition to successfully meet the challenges of university and beyond.

Academic

High-quality teaching produces outstanding academic achievement, and examination results at Dollar Academy regularly top league tables. Pupils here are highly successful in winning places at top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews, as well as universities in the USA and mainland Europe. Popular subject choices are medicine and dentistry, law, accountancy, economics, business and art.

Extracurricular

There are over 70 extracurricular clubs on offer including sports, art, music, drama and cultural activities. From rugby and cricket, to surfing, shooting and falconry, there is no shortage of options. Musically, there’s a world champion pipe band, a variety of large and small-scale productions and concerts, and a choice of 12 choirs and orchestras. There is also a full Combined Cadet Force programme and a very well-supported Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. Dollar teams are always among the strongest in the country, and the school has internationalists across a range of activities. However, it is perhaps more important to note that the school places great emphasis on taking part: every pupil has the opportunity to perform and compete, often achieving success in activities that they have never tried before.
