‘The school’s focus on challenging all pupils allows the most gifted and talented to be intellectually extended in all subjects’

Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Report 2012

Each girl is encouraged to set herself academic goals and is then supported to find the confidence, determination and love of learning to achieve them. Students proceed onwards to many of the UK’s most demanding universities – including Oxbridge – and also to US Ivy League and leading European higher education institutions.

‘An excellent broad curriculum enriched by a wide range of extracurricular opportunities allows pupils to develop their talents and to discover hidden ones’

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report 2012

From fashion design to forensic science, drama to horticulture, Mayfield girls are encouraged to extend themselves outside the classroom as much as inside. Every girl has the opportunity to develop her interests and discover new ones.

‘Mayfield’s achievements are so splendid that we can imagine them splashed across the front of a broadsheet’

Tatler’s Schools Guide 2012

Mayfield has a reputation as the UK’s leading senior school for ceramics, having won several national awards. Creativity – not just in the expressive arts but in the humanities, sciences and social sciences – lies at the heart of the School’s impressive educational philosophy.

‘The quality of boarding education is excellent’

‘The warm and welcoming atmosphere in the boarding houses is infectious and ensures that girls thoroughly enjoy their boarding experience’

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report 2012

The boarding houses are intended to provide a home from home, during the school day and beyond. Our girls enjoy a stimulating environment where the pleasures of home are interwoven with a work and activity schedule designed to encourage them to educate themselves in the fullest sense of the word. House life is rooted in the principles of consideration for one another, charity, forgiveness and friendship.

‘Spiritual awareness is excellent and is nurtured by a dedicated staff’

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report 2012

Mayfield is a Catholic school which welcomes students of all faiths and none. In the same way that in the classroom we expect girls to engage, challenge and learn, so too we encourage them to question, reflect and respond to their faith.

Location and facilities

The School is located within the quiet village of Mayfield, less than 65km from the centre of London and just 45 minutes’ drive from Gatwick Airport. The sports facilities include a new all-weather pitch, eight new all-weather tennis and netball courts, an indoor swimming pool, one of the largest outdoor riding arenas in the South East of England and a dance studio. The magnificent new Sixth Form Centre and new stable block, opened at the start of the 2013 Autumn Term, complement the School’s other high-calibre academic and extracurricular facilities. These include a nine-laboratory science centre, a new ICT suite, two libraries, a music school and five ceramics and arts studios. At the heart of the School is the 14th-century chapel and the boarding houses, which are comfortable and welcoming.
