Girls at The Mount today celebrate outstanding successes for GCSE results with 100% passing 5 GCSEs at A*-C. Half of the results were A-A* grades with one third achieving 8 or more A* or A grades.
Julie Lodrick, Principal, said, “We are incredibly proud of the girls’ achievements at GCSE.
They have worked hard for their exams whilst maintaining full extra-curricular programmes. The Mount’s broad and balanced education will stand them in good stead for their future studies.”
Four girls achieved straight A*s or As. Kiri Armstrong’s impressive 10 A*s and 1 A followed a very busy few years in which she has taken a full role in the musical and sporting life of the School.
Rowan Palmour will be taking up a prestigious scholarship at George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania, USA, gained 9 A*s and 1 A. Rowan is not only the reigning U17 girls’ North East high jump champion, but also an accomplished musician.
Caroline Rosenzweig, who achieved 9 A*s, 1 A and an A* in Further Maths, is a boarder at The Mount with an ambition to study Engineering at Harvard University following her A Levels. Caroline not only won first prize at the Engineering Inspiration Competition at Elvington in June, but has also represented The Mount in the Rotary Youth Speaks national public speaking competition, progressing to the regional finals.
Milly Lake’s 7 A*s and 4 As will provide an excellent foundation for her desire to follow a medical career. Mention should also be made of Eleanor Dook, who represents England in international karate competitions. She earned 7 As, 2 Bs and 1 C and should be commended for her ability to manage her academic studies around a busy training schedule.
